What Causes Urinary Tract Infection In Women??

Uti is the key reason women are often told to wipe from front to back after using the toilet.
This is because the urethra - the tube that transports urine from the bladder to the outside of the body is located close to the anus.

Bacteria from the large intestine such as E.coli are in the perfect position to escape the anus and invade the urethra from there, they can travel up to the bladder and if the infection is not treated, it will continue until it infects the kidneys.
Women are especially prone to UTIs because they have shorter urethras, which allow bacteria quick access to the bladder.
Sex can sometimes introduce bacteria into the urinary tract too.

let me also give you some TIPS ON PERSONAL HYGIENE TO HELP PREVENT UTI.....

1.) Always wipe from the front to the back after urinating, do not try to reach from behind because germs from the rectum can be transferred to the hand and tissue.

After a bowel movement, clean the area around the anus gently wiping from front to back.

2.) Avoid long intervals between urination. Try to empty the bladder at least every four hours during the day while awake. When feeling the urge to urinate, do not try to hold it.

3.) The use of tampons is advised during the menstrual flow rather than sanitary pads because they keep the bladder opening area drier than a sanitary pad thereby limiting bacterial growth.

4.) Avoid the use of spermicidal jelly.

Please note that spermicidal jelly is a contraceptive substance in the form of jelly that destroys sperm, inserted vaginally before intercourse to prevent pregnancy.
