Prostate Enlargement Treatment: Healthgarde Nutritional and Herbal Alternative For Enlarged Prostate

What Is A Prostate?

A prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system that is located just beneath the bladder; it surrounds part of the urethra (the canal that empties the bladder)

What Is The Function Of The Prostate?

The prostate's main function is to produce/secrete prostate fluid (one of the components of semen) which protects and enriches sperm. The muscles of the prostate gland also help propel this seminal fluid into the urethra during ejaculation.

What Is An Enlarged Prostate?

An enlarged prostate means that the gland has grown bigger. It is no longer the normal size. Benign prostatic hyperplasia is the medical term for an enlarged prostate. It occurs when the cells of the prostate gland begin to multiply. These additional cells cause the prostate to swell which squeezes the urethra and limits the flow of urine.

Who Can It Happen To?

Prostate enlargement happens to almost all men as they get older. It is not cancerous and it does not increase the risk of prostate cancer.

Symptoms Of Prostate Enlargement

As the prostate enlarges it may cause narrowing of the urethra. This may partially obstruct the flow of urine. This can lead to obstructive symptoms such as :

1) Poor stream - the flow of urine is weaker and it takes longer for the bladder to be emptied.

2) Hesitancy - a man may have to wait in the toilet for a while before urine starts to flow

3) Dribbling - towards the end of passing urine the flow becomes a slow dribble

4) Division - during urination the flow divides into two or is scattered

5) Poor emptying - having a feeling that the bladder is not completely emptied

6) Leakage - drops of urine on pants or trousers after urination

An enlarged prostate makes the bladder irritable which causes frequent urination, this can be especially irritating if it happens at night.
It also causes urgency which means the need to get to the toilet quickly once there is an urge.

Please Note :

An enlarged prostate does not always cause symptoms and the severity of the symptoms is not always related to the size of the prostate, it just depends on how much the prostate obstructs the urethra.

Not all urinary symptoms in men are due to an enlarged prostate.
If blood is present in the urine, or the man becomes incontinent or is in pain, it may be due to bladder, kidney, or other prostate conditions and a doctor should be consulted immediately.

These are serious complications that are less likely to occur:

With a total blockage of urine - where the man can no longer pass urine - urinary retention can be very uncomfortable. A small tube (catheter) is inserted to drain the bladder. This happens to one in a hundred men.

The other case is when some of the urine in the bladder is emptied and some remains - chronic retention. This causes repeated reoccurring urine infections or incontinence.

Types Of Medical Tests For Prostate

A look inside the bladder with a special telescope (cystoscopy)

A urine flow test to ascertain how bad the obstruction is

An ultrasound scan to see whether much urine remains in the bladder after urinating

A Prostate-Specific Antigen (Psa) Blood Test

This can be used as a marker for the size of the prostate. Larger prostate makes more PSA. A high PSA level is also found in people with prostate cancer. (Although it has to be emphasized that most men with prostate symptoms do not have prostate cancer)

Things And Foods To Avoid

Smoking - nicotine irritates the bladder

Caffeine (commonly found in tea, coffee, and colas) - can make the symptoms of frequency,  urgency, and getting up several times a night to pass urine worse.

Citrus fruit juices - aggravate bladder and kidney problems

Margaret:
Please, what's the difference between prostate enlargement and prostate cancer?

Healthwis247:
Prostate enlargement is when the scrotum swells up and urination becomes difficult

While prostate cancer is when the urinary tracts get infected and become cancerous releasing blood while urination and equally having problems urinating and sometimes urine comes in the scanty form

But thankfully we have cured with a proper combination of Healthgarde products.

Margaret:
Now I know better, thanks dear

Malachi Okafor:
Great submission ma But you said, the prostate is not cancerous, why do we have it as called prostate cancer? Where did Prostate cancer come from?

Lorraine Richard-Dike:
Prostate enlargement does not mean the prostate is cancerous

Please read the previous explanation by Healthwise

Healthwise247 thank you!!
